I've been very fortunate to attend lectures by some of the big hitters in perio over the years, and so I'm ashamed to admit, I wondered what I could learn from Deepaks Perio Masterclass. But as a colleague had told me to look out for any courses run by PeriowithDeepak, I decided to book. And I'm so glad I did. He is a gifted speaker, who is uniquely placed to not only pass on his extensive and up to date knowledge, but is also someone doing the same job you are, and so knows your difficulties, barriers and frustrations. Any questions you have, he has probably already made sure he has covered in this 3 day event. There is no 'dumbing down' with Deepak, hence he asks you to read the papers he sends before the course. But he is a brilliant communicator, engaging, enthusiastic and passionate, with no arrogance or ego attached. I absolutely loved it (not something you usually say on a perio course) Don't second guess, just book it! It's worth every penny!

I did this course in August. Today I earned in one extra 4.5hr session (I don’t usually work Fridays) more than I paid for this course! This month has been my highest paid month ever since I qualified in 2002 and I only work part time when I used to work full time.A few things to note:Before Deepak's course I would not have had any interest in booking an extra session (yawn).I only booked the course because after 15 years qualified I thought I should make sure ‘it looked like I was up to date on perio’ (yawn!!) plus it was the beginning of the new CPD cycle so win-win! I was so surprised I loved the course and would do it again in an instant.I would never in a million years have thought I could earn in one session more than I used to earn in a day.I loved doing it and love my job again.My patients were grateful for my help and happy to pay for my skill.So Deepak, thank you 🙏 I am truly grateful—I have my buzz back.

Well, I’m a week on from my 3-day perio course with Deepak Simkhada, and this week has been a revelation! I’ve enjoyed my job! The course reassured me I’m doing ok but has given me more confidence in treatment planning and moving forward with these plans. I would recommend the course to you all! "It's tough sometimes. Had a cancer patient who got drunk, fell down stairs and smashed his whole face. He had external screws with elastics that I had to change. As well as an open fracture that I had to scale because the calculus was preventing the wound healing ... very r...ewarding, but so much responsibility ...... .......I've felt that I was fighting my cause for a long time. I don't know any other hospital based Hygienists treating Oral Surgery, Cleft lip and palate, apnoea and Orthognathic patients. I fought for years to be seen as a Specialist. Finally last year I was given a band 6. I regularly get asked by Oral Surgeons how to proceed with a patient's treatment. But I've always felt isolated. The Non - surgical PT course made me feel like I was part of a family.... You are so passionate about your profession. It inspires me. I was starting to get bored and stale with my work. In the 'hands on you 'will actually use all the instrumentation previously mentioned plus the incredible perio air flow. Ali Mohsin and Deepak will take you to another level during the' hands on day'. In 3 days I have never got bored Deepak and Ali have a fantastic energy. You can tell that are not there just to deliver a lesson but they are also there to make you a great clinician. When was the last time you felt like a clinician instead of a cleaner?!!! So I just finished something I never thought I would ever do. I went on a three day perio course. On a week-end. And on my birthday weekend! ?And in a massive storm! ? I actually thought these kind of things were for nerdy nerd hygienists and people who were just so fantastic at all things perio that they trot off for three day mini breaks to yip yap about more perio and how great they all are. ? I always thought that I’d rather eat cold cat sick than go to something like that!! ? Well let me tell you, I’ve never been so far at the wrong end of a stick! Firstly, after approximately 15 minutes, I realised we were all very similar with our worries, lack of confidence and all had the same questions and difficulties. It was a relief. The course leader, Deepak Simkhada, was someone I’d never met but had heard about and read posts from. Friends of mine have raved about him and I had, up til now, rolled my eyes and thought -yeah right, who does this clown think he’s kidding with all this “trying to make out being a hygienist is great” malarky? I can tell you this guy knows his shit! Massively! Not just in a -Hey ladies(and gent), I know my shit just take my word for it kinda way but in a -I know my shit, I can back it up and prove my shit, research has been done on my shit and my shit works and I can prove that too kinda way. ? Every single thing he talked about was interesting. It was relevant. It was current. It answered a hundred questions. It gave confidence. It gave motivation. It clarified many things I have been baffled with for 12 years. Reassured me I was doing things right and jolted me awake to many things that I do wrong and need to change. The biggest part was the massive kick up the arse at the end to press the point that change will only happen if we start the ball rolling ourselves and make sure we are the best and show we are the best, have the confidence we should have in our scope of skills and not sell ourselves short just because it’s how it’s always been done. I thoroughly enjoyed all three days and learnt so much. Deepak, you are a fabulous, kind and caring gentleman. Your approach to teaching is clear, simple and to the point but not with any bragging or superiority. Pure class. You have shared so much this weekend and I found every minute packed with useful help and support. Thank you very much. If anyone on here is lost in this profession and feels they have lost their way or need to find that feeling of positivity again then this course will tick all the boxes. You won’t regret booking yourself on. ?

Having attended Deepak Simkhada’s 3 day Masterclass recently it prompted me to write this. I qualified in 2016 and had left the register in 2020 for health reasons during COVID but had also entirely lost any motivation for a job I once loved. I had been beaten down by the 20 minute no nurse support appts. No time to go to the toilet as I would run behind with zero support. I felt like a cleaning machine and I was done with it. After a 3 year break I decided to come back to hygiene as it would suit my personal needs with work and I hoped to regain some sort of enthusiasm if I found a good practice. Then enters Deepak. He entirely changed everything in those 3 short days. His knowledge and enthusiasm is inspiring and he truly cares. It may sound a bit much but I feel changed as a hygienist but also my professional pride which had long gone has now been restored. I had heard of Deepak’s courses before but never really got what all the hype was about until now. He really is as good as everyone says and more.
